Egypt is one of the more progressinve muslim countries I've always said that once you espose someone to "Leave it to Beaver" and "The Andy Griffin Show" It takes one generation to sell them on the American Dream. Of course that has somewhat altered over the years.

haha… i am not very proud nor it is my place to say maybe but the last thing any of a western boy (at least most of west) shall say is about religion… sorry to say this but you guys have pushed away and locked up your religion in a church … no religion outside that….believe what you want but dont impose it on others by highlighting a few bad muslims and there is no need to search around a city or street coz i am sure even your neighbor will be a nightmare of christianity…
clean up your own frontyard then tell others… sorry for any offense

i'm an egyptian american citizen, living in egypt, and i personally do agree with the article, this month we're suppose to get closer to God not to watch tv series. and the sad part that all new tv series begin in ramadan and repeat through the entire year until next ramadan where new tv series are made and the circle keeps going but i have to also say in america advertisment for christmas would begin the day after thanksgiving until christmas. all stores, streets and houses would decorate for christmas in the same way egypt decorates for ramadan. the problem is both countries are under the effect of the media.

@Eman- Now you see how christians should feel about their season being turned into the holiday of cloaked greed. During the christmas season, people buy el-cheapo gifts and give them to friends and family, hoping to get something expensive in return. The message about the birth of a certain Jewish carpenter is largely ignored.

Then again, I prefer Halloween. People dress up in costumes (even the guys, which is nice considering I never get to dress up the remaining 364ish days of the year… unlike the girls, who get to dress up every @#$% day), and the children go around demanding candy at the front doors of houses. At least they're being honest and saying "Give me candy or I'll do a prank on you!"

If you read the article and you have no clue whatsoever, you could think that they can watch uncensored American movies. That every funny movie can be found. That there are no Christians in Egypt. That people can practice whatever religion they choose or no religion at all if they want to and have no problems about it. That the moral problem of the country lies on over consumption in a holy month, and not in lack of freedom, real democracy, tortured detainees, female genital mutilation, etc. etc. That they are as much well off that they fatten like pigs in that month. Oh, I forgot that pig is a forbidden comparison. Well, like hippopotamus.
The biggest blind is who doesn’t want to see.

He should have returned the letter without reading it. It's not his position to determine what the father would have wanted to divulge or what the son would have wanted to know. If a personal relic was mistakenly discarded, the finder should return it to the owner without snooping.
