The human mind is very complex, with the average person using only about ten percent of his or her brain. This is the “conscious” mind, which we use as we choose everyday of our lives. The remaining ninety percent is referred to as the “subconscious” mind, and we do not have any direct control over the information stored in our subconscious minds. Like a computer, the subconscious mind stores information for us, and programming in the subconscious mind that may have served us as children may not serve us well as adults.
For example, a child may learn very early in life that being ill brings attention from adults as well as a break from any of life’s responsibilities, so a behavior pattern may be created at the subconscious level creating illness when the child feels that he or she needs some extra attention or needs a respite from the stresses of life. While this learned behavior pattern may work in a child’s life, we can all see the problems that it would cause in an adult’s life. Does being ill bring us a respite from life’s stresses?
Generally, the responsibilities we have in adult lives do not disappear if we become ill; in fact, they may simply become more difficult. Nevertheless, the behavior pattern of creating illness to create a rest period persists, even when it no longer works, creating illness in our physical bodies whenever we feel overwhelmed.
Unfortunately, this type of behavior pattern is embedded deep in the subconscious mind, unavailable to us on our conscious level, so it can be difficult to discover and even more difficult to change. Using our conscious mind to try to overcome these deeply embedded behavior patterns can lead to frustration and failure as you try to use willpower to work around the negative behavior, while hypnotherapy allows you to change the behavior pattern at its base.
Changing the programming we have in our subconscious mind requires access to the subconscious, which is easily accomplished by hypnotherapy. Using a natural state of relaxation, our skilled and sensitive hypnotherapists can replace your negative programming with positive programming, your outdated behavior patterns with constructive behavior patterns and your limiting beliefs with ideas that enable you to meet your life goals and improve the quality of your everyday life.
Changing your programming works in a variety of situations and with a variety of issues. We can help you to stop smoking or to eliminate other addictive behaviors, we can help you to lose weight, we can help you to nurture your relationships and more! All because we can use your body’s normal, natural relaxation states to access your subconscious mind.
