The point of the list above is to show a number of bad habits that some people may have that are detrimental to their daily lives. Some of them not only irritate others who come in contact with them, but some of them are truly extremely harmful to the person with the bad habit. All of the above personal bad habits can be stopped with the use of hypnotherapy though by contacting a good professional hypnotist.
So how does it work?
Assuming that you can try to get rid of my bad habit, how is this going to work, are you going to rap my knuckles with a strong ruler every time I’m tempted to do my bad habit?
No, not at all there is never any punishment involved. The first thing that a hypnotherapist will do is to find out the reason behind what it is you are doing. Perhaps the reason goes way back into your childhood, and you’ve been doing it since, perhaps it gives you some sort of psychological relief, or perhaps it fills some need that you have that is stronger than yourself.
One of the best examples I have ever seen was on TV during a family sitcom show, where one older brother ate every bite of food by touching his chin with it first. Episode after episode showed him doing this, until one episode finally exhibited the reason he did it. It was actually sibling jealousy, for when his baby brother came along, the mother used to feed the baby by playing “airplane” with him now, leaving the now older child to fend for himself, and the way that she got the baby to open his mouth was to touch his chin with the spoonful of food while saying that the hanger had to open for the plane. The older brother was simply compensating for the lack of his mother’s attention with every bite now that he was old enough to feed himself.
Once your reason for your bad habit is unearthed, the hypnotist will utilize the fact that your subconscious is highly receptive during hypnosis to make suggestions to you that will enable you to cope with whatever the cause of your bad habit was. Then suggestions will be made that will allow you to “sidestep” your bad habit. Instead of a huge piece of carrot cake, you might grab a carrot instead, thus sidestepping your desire to eat something highly fattening.
What else can I get out of hypnosis?
Besides changing bad habits, most people report:
- Enhanced relaxation with calming effects
- Better sleep
- Enhanced concentration
- Finding it easier to deal with stress
- A pleasant procedure that is non-invasive and empowering
