To understand the Tao Te Ching along with Chinese philosophy in general one has to understand the harmony of life represented in the concept of Yin and Yang. Yin- the female life force and Yang-the male life force is the continuous rhythm of life that pulsates through the universe, in the seemingly separate but in truth one complementary flow.
