I’m not suggesting that you simply pack your bags and walk off down the street. Talking is the place to start out. Why is it that so most people are afraid to speak? Talking is, in the end, merely an exercise of putting your thoughts into words and communicating them to the alternative person. In fact, the terror shouldn’t be of talking, the phobia is of what the alternative person is going to assert or how they may react. There is a different fear which flows like an undercurrent beneath the outside; the terror of change, the worry of the unknown.
The irony is however that unless you overcome that fear and begin to speak, the presently dormant tsunami is prone to take you without warning and wreak its own havoc, creating much more chaos than talking ever would. ” A stitch in time saves nine” is a prophetic statement.
One essential thing to do in life is to be told to interpret your ” gut feelings” and to act upon them. What number times have you found yourself dwelling upon something, dreading that it could possibly happen but doing nothing to preempt it, only to search out that the inevitable eventually happens. What number times have you tried to kid yourself that everything is perfect, whilst together knowing that you’re feeling neither happy nor secure?
We all will be predisposed to do that, and all due to fear; being terrified of an unwanted outcome doesn’t stop it from happening. Doing nothing about it the truth is tends to increase the percentages of the unwanted event. Now it’s rather ironic, is it not?
For this reason talking is so vital in any relationship, be it together with your lover, your colleague or your boss. Just going along side the flow and letting things happen, only prolongs your anxiety, increases your fear and makes the unwanted more guaranteed to happen.
Learning to take heed to your inner thoughts, pay heed in your gut feelings and find your inner voice is vital inside the creation of excellent relationships. Good relationships don’t just happen; you learn how to nurture them by listening in your heart and communicating your feelings at the fitting time rather than simply turning a blind eye to distant tsunamis.
